What carbon data apis and records is about

An application programming interface, or API, can make selected carbon-market data accessible across systems. It may expose project identifiers, registry status, metadata, or transaction information where the underlying provider permits. It can support discovery and comparisons.

What the label cannot settle on its own

An API is only as informative as its source data, update process, permissions, and data model. It does not independently verify an underlying project, settle legal rights, or turn a data record into an environmental guarantee.

Questions that keep the evidence trail open

Which organization supplies the data? What fields and update timing are stated? How does the API link back to the original record? Which decisions still require methodology, project, and policy evidence?
